Day 17, 2022-01-13
Weather:
Clouds: 1/8
Wind: 5 m/s east
Temp: 17 degrees
Distance: 77 km
Average distance: 70 km
Total distance: 1183 km
Position: Lat: 29.578016Lon: -15.036635
Health/emotions: Frustrated by a new weather report, tired from rowing against the wind all day.
Description of the day
Started wonderfully with a pod of dolphins coming up to the boat in the darkness at 6 am, circling around and puffing air, some as close as two meters from the boat. A few hours later we received an updated weather report that says that the wind has decided to turn against us. Now we are again looking at heavy southernly winds, that might make it impossible to land at the Canaries. We will row through the night and hope for the best.
Coalition Clean Baltic- Save the baltic porpoise
Porpoises do not use whistles as dolphins do. Instead, porpoises use echolocation clicks to “see” underwater and to communicate with each other. The porpoise produces clicks that bounce off objects in the surroundings and interpret the echoes, just like bats do in the air.
Aphorism
Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise, so I am changing myself.
